Dr Jacqui Hussey
Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist and the lead Consultant for the Memory Clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire Healthcare Trust
Dr Hussey has a special interest in young onset dementia. Locally in Wokingham, her team has started new enterprises including education groups for patients and carers and a referral pathway which has led to earlier diagnosis and management.
She helped set up and is Chair of the award-winning charity Younger People with Dementia (Berkshire) CIO. The charity works very closely with healthcare services and runs a variety of psychosocial interventions for younger people with dementia. This includes activities such as a choir, katakanoeing and other cognitive enhancing and exercise-based workshops to provide meaningful activity. They won the Royal College of Psychiatry team of the Year Award in 2015.
She was awarded Thames Valley and Wessex NHS Inspirational Leader award in 2015, was a Principal Investigator for The Angela Project and has published two reminiscence books for younger people with dementia.
Dr Hussey is a member of the Young Dementia Network diagnosis workstream.
